Backstage Soundcheck + Donation

Backstage Soundcheck is a transformative program that unlocks the creativity and potential of foster youth by providing them with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes experience in the music industry. Our immersive program offers a rare glimpse into the world of music, inviting participants transitioning out of the U.S. foster care system to go backstage during a national music tour. This unique opportunity includes witnessing a pre-concert soundcheck and engaging in a Q&A session with the musical artist and touring staff. Backstage Soundcheck aims to inspire and educate, showcasing a variety of roles and careers within the music industry. The day concludes with our youth attendees experiencing the magic of a live show, creating unforgettable memories, and fostering aspirations for their own bright futures.

Level Up

The Level Up Experience is a transformative event born from the collaboration of The Felix Organization, co-founded by award-winning casting director Sheila Jaffe and RUN DMC’s Darryl DMC Daniels, and The Purple Project, founded by former foster youth LaTasha Watts. The Level Up Experience is an inspirational and free interactive conference designed for foster youth, both present and former offering “Ted-Talk” style workshops covering essential topics such as future planning and careers, safety and health, self-care, and relationships. Together, our mission is to inspire, educate, and prepare foster youth for their personal and professional growth to ensure a successful transition into adulthood.

DW Drums

In collaboration with industry leader dwDrums, MIU proudly introduces an exciting initiative tailored for young adults who have already transitioned out of the foster care system or youth on the cusp of aging out. Through this partnership, we bring youth to dwDrums corporate headquarters in Oxnard, CA where they embark on an exclusive tour of the facility, delving into the intricacies of dw divisions and products, including Drum Build, Molding, Custom Design, Concert Staging, R & D, and 3D Tech (STEM). As an added opportunity, participants engage in one-on-one discussions with dwDrums C Suite Executives to gain insights into the industry and are extended invitations to apply for positions within the company. This unique and enriching experience aims at providing both knowledge and potential career paths for the youth.
