The Music Is Unity Foundation is committed to uplifting and empowering foster youth as they transition into adulthood. Our mission is to provide essential support by allocating funds to non-profit foster care agencies, ensuring they can offer valuable resources to those aging out of the foster care system.
Backstage Soundcheck Internship Contest
A unique career-building opportunity for foster youth interested in behind-the-scenes careers in live concert production. The program will select one foster youth to join a professional touring production team during Earth, Wind & Fire’s summer tour stop on July 8, 2026 at TD Garden in Boston, MA. The selected participant will receive one-on-one, hands-on exposure to live concert production, shadowing professionals in areas such as Lighting and Audio Engineering.
Through direct immersion in a world-class touring environment, the participant will gain practical industry insight and real-world experience while building transferable skills and professional connections.
Who Can Apply
Applicants must:
• Be 18 years or older
• Be a former foster youth or be in the process of transitioning out of the U.S. foster care system
• Currently reside in Massachusetts
• Have a genuine interest in live music production
• No prior professional experience is required. Passion, curiosity, and motivation are strongly encouraged.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a 2–3 minute video essay by April 30, 2026, that includes the following information:
• Name, age, and brief personal introduction
• Why you are interested in live music or concert production
• Are you aware of the jobs that are available in concert production
• Which behind-the-scenes roles excite you most and why
• What this opportunity would mean for your future
Videos may be recorded on a phone and do not need professional production. Authenticity and accessibility are prioritized. All video submissions should be sent to musicisunitycontest@gmail.com
The selected winner will be announced in May 2026 in recognition of Foster Care Awareness
